he made the point, and I think it's a valid one, that you can't hold the candidate responsible for everything that people around him may say or do. You just can't -- whether it's me, whether it's Obama, anybody else."

Looks like Obama might be done. It looked like he would be the Democratic nominee and have atleast a 50/50 chance against McCain. Too bad he was done in by his own pastor, not to mention public endorsements by Farrakhan and the black panthers. If those guys wanted him to win they should have just STFU.

"he made the point, and I think it's a valid one, that you can't hold the candidate responsible for everything that people around him may say or do." That's just common sense, IMO.

"Looks like Obama might be done." The floodgates have yet to open on McCain. By the end of this thing, each candidate will be scarred.

This is a valid point but it doesn't speak to Obama's long term relationship with his pastor and church.

can we hold Obama responsible for things he himself said? like describing the bigoted behaviour of "typical" white people?

Just nonsense. Anything to avoid talking about anything that matters. And people eat it up

Who cares what Obamas preacher said.

Apparently lots & lots of people do.

Its like saying all catholics are child molestors because some priest swere. It has no validity

Actually, it's absolutely nothing like that at all.

I agree.  This dilemna is really ruining all those speeches Obama gives about things that matter and are meaningful.

Words DO matter!  Change!  Hope!

I know damn good and well that if my preacher had any opinions at all that were even remotely dissimilar to mine, there's no way I could trust his opinions on anything else. Especially if he had some opinions I flat-out thought were wrong. It's just not possible for somebody to have an opinion like that and still be able to offer good spiritual advice. Seriously though, what's really sad is, if Obama was a Republican candidate and his preacher had said something along the lines of "Gays are the downfall of Western civilization," he would probably be a shoo-in for his party's nomination. But talk bad about whitey and all hell breaks loose.

"Its like saying all catholics are child molestors because some priest swere. It has no validity" What the fuck are you talking about? There is no similarity between the two scenarios.
