What doesn't make sense is the varying trap speeds I'm seeing. That's a good way to tell power. I've seen 117-124. 117mph would be reasonable, that puts it at right around 480-500hp. Then road and track ran 124? That's over 550 hp in a 3800 lb car. I can't wait to see these things on the street and the track, to see what they really do.

I'm betting they have a 800hp car that is detuned to xxxhp through the ECU. I wonder how long it'll take soeme geek to crack the code on that car.

Easy to measure pulse width at idle to get an idea of injector size.......no need to check code.

^Did you read what jkdandforrestfan posted? The pictures? That's the C&D article I'm talking about. From the article: "Engineering Mule Tester"... I understand now.

Furacao, I would love to own one.  Unfortunately the wifey won;t let me spend the dough on one so I am going to get my second choice, Factory Five Daytona Coupe.

I'd slap a license plate on it, nice paint job and turn signals and call it street legal.

" WTF? How is Car And Driver's test car so much faster than everyone else's? I can't find where C&D has tested the GTR yet, so I'm thinking it must be one of those tests where they went to Europe and tested a non-US spec car."

road and track is the only published test that i'm aware of that got less than stellar #'s (11.7 and 117, i believe)

c&d: 3.3 to 60, 11.7 @ 124 for the quarter

motortrend: 3.2 and 11.6 @ 120

edmunds: 3.3 and 11.6 @120 (japanese car)

also remember the car tested by c&d was an engineering mule so it's no doubt fully broken in, that could give it a few mph's.

The GTR is one heavy pig!  Couldn't they have made the car smaller?  The car would really be something if it weighed 700+ pounds less.

It's an amazing car none the less.  I am into MPG nowdays so it doesn't matter to me.

nurburgring is a good indicator as any and the gtr is wooping ass on that 1 as well. who cares if millen is driving the gtr, it's not as if they pick some random guy off the street to drive the other cars....they're all pro drivers.

Yes, he did drive all the cars. He's a great driver, but he has had his hands on a GTR for a while now.

actually one of the modified car magazines in the UK did a rolling road of the first GTR imported to the UK and it turns out the power figures are a little above stated figures, with the price being a hell of a lot cheaper than getting a Z06 over here (and RHD to boot)

my bad, i didn't even read the article and assumed you were complaining that Millen drove the gtr and some shlepp drove the other cars. reading ftw!1!!!

I've stated before that the gtr is underrated in power....the numbers just don't add up if it were 480hp. I read a magazine yesterday that showed the gtr getting good gains from a bolt on mod an increase of 35hp was achieved. That's pretty damn impressive.

I think this car is an 600hp+ monster detuned through the ecu...can't wait to see the v-spec stats against the zr1.

lol@that! i know mitsubishi was refusing to replace clutches on the evo's because they were being beaten badly. I don't blame them as some people were coming back to warranty a clutch that was burnt out with 10,000miles on the odometer.

I think the GPS thing is BS! That's a breach of privacy and they wouldn't want something like that in this day and age where you can sue for just about anything.

I guarantee someone will pick through the ECU and find more gains than simply feeding more air to the engine. I can't wait to see how things turn out.
