standpoint or a health-based perspective? I completely understand vegetarianism as a moral choice, but I don't see veganism as having a greater moral consideration. I was just wondering which perspective you are operating from and if you see vegetarianism as morally insufficient.

Or if any Vegan can contribute to this either, I'd appreciate it.

Veganism means not not consuming or using anything derived from animals. Not eating animal flesh, not consuming animal milk, and so on and so forth. But aren't regulation UFC gloves made out of leather??

"but I don't see how veganism as having greater moral consideration." The animals that vegetarians eat products from such as milk, cheese and eggs suffer just as much as the ones that are slaughtered for food. In fact, most of the animals that are used to produce dairy and eggs are slaughtered for food after their "production" goes down. Otherwise they're just killed. It is kind of an oxymoron to say you're a vegetarian for animal rights reasons but continue to eat products from animals that live a miserable existence.

While factory farms that produce eggs, milk and cheese treat their animals poorly, that doesn't mean all animal by-products are produced from animals that aren't treated well; many organic farms do treat their animals well. If one were to eat cage-free eggs and buy dairy from true organic humane farms, I don't see how this would be any less moral than being a vegan.

Still doesn't address the leather gloves issue. A true vegan would not use gloves made from dead animal skin, I'm just saying.

You guys don't know the difference between Vegan and Vegetarians do you? VEGANS- Don't eat meat, dairy or ANY animal product. Some won't even wear leather, suede, etc... VEGETARIANS- Don't eat meat, but will eat dairy or other animal products.

Freeganism? Screw that noise, it is a temporary solution for a MINUTE part of the population. If everyone was a freegan, then there would be no stores and they couldn't go through their trash.

As far as leather gloves go, their isn't a decent synthetic glove out there yet.

Sagiv, you're right; Joaquin Phoenix made the producers of Gladiator make him synthetic costumes instead of leather ones. Those gloves made not be genuine leather or Mac had specially designed ones. And about the vegetarians that eat fish, they are pesco-vegetarians.

Ned, if you could insure that all of your eggs and dairy came from animals that were treated well and suffered no ill-effects, would you say it was morally okay to eat them?

I wonder if he wears synthetics, or if the only gloves that are regulation (per NSAC) are genuine leather.

See what I mean, sometimes it is important to show a distinction, same with pesco-vegetarian. Hey Ned, what kind of shoes do you wear? With most being leather, what kind can I buy?

Beef cattle don't lead a "miserable existence". Except the slaughterhouse, that would suck...but it's usually off the truck and down the line.
