I don't know why Boutwell gets such a bad rap. Any facility in a downtown urban area is going to be near an old neighborhood. The venue has the easiest access to anything I know about, it's like 20 seconds off I-20. The price isn't bad and the view is excellent. I would go back in a heartbeat if I could get an exclusive but 2 shows a year is all a large venue like that can support and I don't like having the fans confuse my shows with others - it's usually not good. Also, any decent show in ANY decent venue needs 775ppl to break even ....are any Birmingham shows doing that? What is it about that town? I love the area by the way and all the fighters were good to work with, it's just the lack of interest in general that suprises me.

its just a bad place for MMA, have a Bama vs Auburn former football player gimmick to it, and you'll sell tickets

I don't think it is a bad town for MMA. I think it is a great town for MMA...in the future. It will be very hard to bust on the scene like tonail is doing and have a card full of unknown (to the locals) pros fighting and make money. it is hard enough with local ammies. I have done over 700 in each of my shows (a complete disappointment by the way), but I realize that between 800 and 1000 is all this town has to offer until the fan base gets larger. And it will. The biggest problem is that some of the shows are awful and people over pay to see them and never go back to another show. And the fact that the potential sponsors have been either burned or have had business associates get burned by shady promoters in the past. Without the help of local sponsors, you can count it out. Acquiring sponsors is the hardest part here.

Agreed; acquiring sponsors and advertisers is the toughest job for any promoter and that's why most fail. In Birmingham especially I had more than one club owner read me the riot act because of what some other idiot did. I think I have a great business plan for a return trip but I wont do it as long as Boutwell is having a different show every other month. Either way - GL to those who have the money on the line tonight....maybe they will turn the corner

So we will average out the only two reports and that will make a solid 75. I heard 50.

Screw all you assholes for not being there. Once again I stole the show with a flying armbar at 22 seconds in the 1st round. And Jamie paid me in cash at the weigh ins, no problem.

Wish I could have seen it bro. Tina got off at like 8. You were already finished fighting then. Did not even get to make it to Hooters for the UFC. Had to order at home. Good job man.
