So I'm listening to talk radio while driving yesterday and they had a couple of political analyst that were discussing the Clinton and Obama campaign.

At one point they were discussing the issue of how the Clintons have lost support of black voters to Obama. They went on for about 15 minutes discussing different theories of why blacks are now supporting Obama and not Hillary.

Not once did they discuss the possibility that some black voters are supporting Obama because he is black. I know that the issue has racial implications but you have to be pretty fucking stupid to not think that many blacks are voting for Obama mainly because he is black. I say there are many whites that are voting for him for that very reason.

If a Cuban-American were running against a non-Cuban-American candidate, and it was a toss up between the two when it came down to the issues, I would vote for the fucking Cuban-American. I would be lying if I said otherwise.

Why is it Taboo to believe that blacks are going to vote for a black candidate if given the choice? Why is that racist or even an issue?  If I were black and a democtrat, I'd vote for him too, especially since he has the first real chance of becoming the first black president.

Certainly MANY people will vote for him simply because he is "black".

But, if Obama somehow does become president, I think many blacks will turn on him for not being "back enough".

The guy is a Harvard Law graduate; they're not voting Snoop Dogg into office. I'm not sure everyone understands that.

It makes perfect sense for black voters to vote for him I think. If I was part of a minority group, and I had a chance to elect somebody from my group, I would, all things being equal of course. The Irish did it in this coutry, the Itlians, the Germans, and so on.

Clinton had the black vote initially. As people got to know Obama as a candidate they begun switching over just as people from all races did. Couple that with comments from Bill and surrogates like Ferraro, and you get a massive defection from Clinton to Obama in the black community.

tapsnapornap - the funny thing is that obama is far from black IMO.

first of all, he's only half black. his dad was african too which is totally different. in addition, the dude grew up in hawaii or some shit like that with his white mom. third of all, he was a schoolboy who went to harvard law and shit.

if he wasn't running for president, he would be laughed out of the hood. he has no real connection to the african american community. honestly, i am probably more "black" than he is.

So black people can't be educated now? His dad being African makes him less black? Whats being black to you? Dealing and stealing?

Neither of these groups are "minority groups."

"first of all, he's only half black."

In America, there is no such thing.

"his dad was african too which is totally different."

Yeah, Barack Obama Sr. and F.W. de Klerk are of the same ethnic, racial and cultural background.

"in addition, the dude grew up in hawaii or some shit like that with his white mom."

Where he was called popolo like every other black person in Hawaii.

"third of all, he was a schoolboy who went to harvard law and shit."

Yeah, of course, that alone disqualifies Obama from being black. What a dingbat you are.

"if he wasn't running for president, he would be laughed out of the hood. he has no real connection to the african american community. honestly, i am probably more "black" than he is."

No chance. I would rather admit ethnic kinship with Steve Urkel, Gary Coleman and Ward Connerly than with you.

"Not once did they discuss the possibility that some black voters are supporting Obama because he is black"

I don't support Obama because he's black. I support him because I'M black.

Voting for Obama b/c you're BLACK = RACIST. I coudn't define it any plainer. Not voting for or considering voting for a candidate b/c of his skin color is the same thing. Shame on you. And I mean you should really feel shame.

OK... before I get labeled as a racist, I am by no means saying that all blacks are voting for Obama simply because he is black. I am merely stating that it is really stupid for us to believe that some blacks are not voting for him simply because he is black.

Studies have shown that many people often vote for candidates because they are better looking than the opposing candidate or because of their personality or other traits that they can relate to so why not because the guy is black and they want a chance for there to be a black president.

Why would that be racist?

Actually, when the Irish first started coming ot America, they were considered to be a different race than "white." But the point is that they had to put up with signs saying "No Irish Allowed," and help wanted ads that said "Irish Need Not Apply," so when they got a chance to vote for Irish politicians, it only made sense for them to do so.

Most black people are not voting for him because he is black. They are voting for him because he is black and a liberal. If a black conservative ran for President you can sure as hell be sure they won't get 90% of the black vote.

Even within Dems, there have been blacks to run that have not gotten the support in the black community that Obama has received.
