Last Saturday we (Portland Gym) had three athletes and one new addition to the fight team compete at the FCFF. First up was Cory Roska. Cory has been on a tear lately and kept the momentum going. He was up against a tough, undefeated Team Quest opponent. Cory controlled every second of this fight at all ranges, slamming his opponent several times with authority and serving up some solid ground and pound. Cory walked away with the unanimous decision.

Next up was Hamilton "Scrambleton" Ash. Hamilton continues to improve and maintain his winning streak. Hammy had great footwork and punched his opponent at will. Smelling blood, Hammy pounced, took his opponent down with ease, took his back, hipped in and dropped bombs; TKO due to strikes.

Last but certainly not least was John "Clam" Diggins. John positively dominated his Team Quest opponent from start to finish. John had him fighting out of submissions and bad positions for the entire fight. The grand finale was in the final 10 seconds of the fight. John had his opponent mounted (again) while his opp held on for dear life with a body lock. John began lifting him up and slamming his head against the mat with brutal shoulder strikes, which opened up heavy strikes from mount. Had the bell rung 2 seconds later the fight would have ended in a knockout rather than unanimous decision for John.

Also fighting on the card was Sean Miller. Sean is a friend of ours and one of the scrappiest guys you'd ever want to meet. He dominated his Team Quest opponent in what may have been the most explosive, exiting fight of the night. Sean was relentless and fun to watch. We were all very happy for him and he has since joined the gym. We look forward to good things with Sean. Great night for everyone involved, turned out the fights were only the beginning of our adventures that evening...but that is another tale!

Is it just me or is the quality of the Portland gym athletes getting higher each year?

Both Hamilton and Corey will be fighting for the title belt at their weight this Sept 27th.

Stay tuned. . .
