 Police DO have a duty to act.  I am not sure where you are from, but if I don't act during the most simple of incident, besides being fired I can be charged criminally.

If the state allows open carry, then why not? Open carry is legal in NC and I exercise that right. I have not had any issues at at with LEOs while carrying. I normally have to educate the public (which I don't mind at all). I carry not to say "hey look at me, I have a weapon". I carry because the state allows me to. I just applied for a CCW/CCP(depending on where you're from). I will carry openly more often than concealed, but I like having options.

As it states on www.opencarry.org, " A right not exercised is a right lost".
