seriously, the most self sufficient would most likely be a small dog like a rat terrier.

Rat Terriers are lightning fast and can easily catch small game like chimpmunks, squirrels, moles, probably even birds.

I would say rat terriers have a good chance of surviving on their own.

Asian dogs like the shar-pei, akita, chow imho.

They are incredibly aloof in nature. you throw a stick or ball at them and they look at you like "you gonna pick that up?" and walk off.  while they like being petted, they don't go out of their way to gain your affection.

you're just there to provide the food bub.

The hounds are generally the most independent. Some dogs are very needy and come up to you to be petted and have to lick your face like they are nervous.  My Ridgeback will say hi but she never acts like she craves attention.  I like independent dogs like that actually since they know when to go lay down and give you some space.

Dogos are very much family dogs - not independent types.

It is a new hybrid, called a Savannah. Most are a bred from a Serval(cheetah family) and domesticated Bengal or Maine Coon.

^Had one growing up; hated it. They don't bark like normal dogs, they howl like fuckin' wolves...especially in the dead of night.

The pics are just examples of Savannahs(not mine, but hopefully soon I will get an F1 male).

My current cat(orange Tabby I think) is 15lbs, and still tears up wild animals and climbs trees with no problems.
