one of the best at this is Bob Roberts - Spotlight tattoo. It's not on the website but in his book at the shop, he has a few pics of tattoos he did on some Japanese guys at his Tokyo shop that are amazing. He mixed up traditional japanese with american style roses and stuff...

i posted something about this a while back, google up Aaron Coleman from Immaculate Tattoo in Mesa Arizona, he does some amazing shit with hybrid japanese / american work
