..in this world...what would it be? That is, actually help people.

If I truly wanted to make an impact, particularly in the area of science what would it be? (Something that pays decent would be nice as well. Sue me, I don't want to work for a PhD to only make 30k a year.)

Sorry if this sounds cheesy or self-righteous. That isn't my intent. I would simply like to contribute to some of the big problems.

Right now I'm actually looking at becoming a programmer for a local non-profit. (After I graduate that is.)

Become a rich businessman, retire early to work on your philanthropic foundation.

Hire and give good salaries to 100's of employees who want to make a difference.
