Damn. I watched the race on NBC yesterday. That racing has it all (apart from the night time thing, you can't see shit).

- Top Drivers
- Very competitive racing
- actual contact between the cars in corners (unlike open wheel)
- legitimately bad as cars (lap only 5 secs behind an f1 car at L.Seca)

I really wish this racing was more heavily promoted. I really didn't know what I was missing.

I've been talking about ALMS here since 2000. Been to several races at PIR when I lived in portland. Some of the best car racing out there, and I love prototype race cars on the same track with the GT2 production derived cars. Makes for LOTS of passing.

fren, alms is good, but is not best race in world.
in few years the new classes will make it good second best race in world.
big problem is scattered coverage and teams switching drivers from week to week. castroneves raced few weeks ago.
he fast , but not fast enough to beat IRS.
frens, lamborghini needs team.

5 seconds is long ass time in best race.

fren - I know 5 secs is long time, but when you're talking about the spectator and watching the cars go around, 5 secs a lap is actually hard to determine with your eyes. unerstan? Also, as I explain, there is significant contact and very close racing, something you just don't see in F1 very often.

fren, alms is exciting, but long ass races mean less importance per lap. is better if race is 1.5 to 2 hours.
i watched many races last year, but this year coverage like pollack painting.
we need petition for better coverage.

I agree on race length fren. Must be 2 hours max, this is how long all sports events should be.

I would rather have a major network televise the SCCA championship run-offs.

Those guys are fun to watch.
