My dad had cataract surgery yesterdyt afternoon. When I went to visit him this morning, his eye was still dilated.

Anyone know if that is that normal?

He's got a return visit later today, so I guess we'll find out soon.

I just know that when I've had mine dilated for an eye exam, it has worn of after a few hours. But maybe they do it differently for surgery.

I had a cataract removed, lens replaced at 20, pupil no longer has the ability to focus, tends to stay small, hope things went and go smoothly for your dad

my wife had both eyes done recently (a month apart).

It is normal for the pupil to stay dilated for 24 hours or a bit longer until the local anaesthetics wear off. It happened for both her eyes.

After a month she still occasionally gets tired eyes after a long day in front of a computer, but her eyesight is definitely significantly better. The regimen of eyedrops etc. is a bit of a PITA but that eventually ends.
