I understand vitamin C helps the body produce collagen, but what's the UG's take on the ingestion of collagen for recovery from ligament/cartilage injuries? There really isn't alot of literature on that out there save the blurbs out there from supplement retailers.

I'd assume its in the bucket of under-regulated pseudo science at this point, but I'm curious if anyone has anecdotal or medical evidence of a positive effect.

Thanks fellas.

When I had a really bad sprain I had a physical therapist suggest taking gelatin.  Anecdotally, I've heard that some sports coaches tell their players with sprains to do this.

The supplement that I took was called Knox For Nails with the gelatin in the grocery store.  It has Vit. C and gelatin with an orange flavoring.  Did it help me? Hard to say, but I doubt that it hurt.
