I have a nice little 20wat Vox modeling amp and Line 6 Spider 15wat.

I think the Vox is better because I prefer tube to solid state.

 Personally I think a tube power section makes more difference than a 12ax7 in the preamp. For example, I have the Line6 SpiderJam. 75w solid state power. But I think I like the response of the SpiderValve better.
Reinhold Bogner worked with them on the power amp section.

^^ yeah exactly.. that's why so many guys in the 80's used a tube screamer with a JCM800. plus for me, a 12ax7 always went before a power tube.
