Jocelyn was my SD homegirl wayy back then just around the time her songs started to hit. Was really happy for her back then.

I'm really happy to see the rise of many Fil-Am singers like Camile Velasco, Jasmine Trias etc.... getting great exposure and success.

Thing is, there were soooo many other INCREDIBLY talented Fil-Am Pinay singers back in the day, that you would only hear at the various festivals or nightclubs. Sadly not too many record company's were keen to signing the talent.

^dude you got to remove jasmine trias from that list.that bitch used to never claim shes Pinay and claimed hawaiian and that shes part flip korean etc.then they interviewed her dad americanidol and he sounded like he just crossed the border.

oh PTM2020,missrara, you just know that all dude group KAI?they were huge in the bayarea for a bit around 1998.

another awesome group from around the bay that had a hit around the same time was ONE VOICE.i think they are still performing somewhere.

re: jasmine (who i can't stand, jeebus!) that's cause she's literally from the plantation and has teh major self esteem problem so she disowns her race and opts for some other perceived better races at leleihua high school or wherever the hell she went. lol! :)

Holy crap, can you guys tell me what type/genre of music the first ones posted are called? I'm from the Bay Area and every time i want to describe this music to people not from there i never to what to say besides House or Techno, and i don't even know if that's right.

Oh and my cousin dated Jocelyn Enriquez back in the day before he died. I saw her at his funeral.

as far as Genre, I know Amoeba Records classifies it as Electro Funk, but I'm not sure if thats 100% correct

Death Angel were the only Filipino American musicians I've ever known that ever freely spoke about their Filipino heritage. All of the old vids I've seen of them barely out of their teens they are mentioning growing up that way.
