I'm sure many of you are aware of how important salt will be in a survival situation. If you live near salt water and know how to harvest it, or, live near a known salt mine thats great for you. If not, you need to stock up.

For starters, I would find out if their are any mines in your area, keeping track of those locations could prove beneficial. If not, consider buying on line.

I found a site that sells Kosher salt.

http://www.saltworks.us/shop/product.asp?idProduct=227

Depending on the quantity you can get it for less than $1/pound.

Trust me, you will want to have some on hand for curing meats and fish, brines, pickling, etc...

20 minutes from one of the largest salt mines- Avery Island, LA!! Salt is vital, but make sure you have iodized salt too.

* Food preservative for meat and preventing wilting of vegetables

* Disinfectant for wounds.

* Prevent food from sticking to cookware

* Combined with starch and water can make a plaster-like putty.

* Soaking toothbrushes in salt water prior to first use will make them last longer.

* When washing clothes in winter (without electricity) salt water will prevent them from freezing on the drying line.

* Slightly salty water will prevent boiling eggs that crack from spilling out into the water.

* Weed killer.

That's all I have off the top of my head.
