I am drinking Peter Vella Merlot right now as I type. This box of wine I buy is not a high quality wine, but a great value for the price and what I use as a daily wine. A good friend of mine works at a winery. He is a wine snob, I had him try it. He told me it wasn't as bad as he expected, and was actually better than some wines that claimed to be good wines.

Bolla Pinot Grigio is one of my favorites and it's like $9 a bottle, I believe.  Ecco Domani has good wines also and they're about the same.  Bella Sera is another good one in that price range.

I'll definitely look for the 1+1=3 Cava. I've bought a few bottles of Cristalino Cava Brut at World Market... very nice at a great price!

alpo - Two words: Gary Vaynerchuk

Watch his videos.  The guy knows his shit, makes it fun and isn't afraid of tackling the low cost stuff.

Does he have his own show?
Where do you find said videos?

Stone Creek makes a good cheap white wine. Stone Hill is Missouri based and has great wines for not too much money.

I drank gallons of Peter Vella when I was in college. A friend calculated that a 5L box of Vella Cab had the best Alcohol to price ratio of any booze that we could buy.
