"JOHANNESBURG (AP) -Construction of one of South Africa's 2010 World Cup stadiums will miss its completion deadline after hundreds of workers were fired for going on an illegal strike, a spokesman for the contractor said Thursday.

The delay comes ahead of Friday's start of ticket sales for the event, which is being held in Africa for the first time."

Probably not at panic level yet, but still, makes you wonder if South Africa was the right choice given the problems preparing to host the event, social issues, weather etc.

The way I'm imagining this, is that the international football community won't let it fail. They will throw an infinite amount of $ at the event to ensure everything is built and a billion police are on hand to keep things quiet.

That's just a guess, but I hope its true.

Africa is Soccer/Footie mad. It had to go their at some point IMO. Looks like they better get they're shit together though. London 2012 will no doubt fall into the same panic situation ( and England 2018 if they get it).
