Dan is typing impared. I'm sitting here watching him teach one of his karate classes that my kids are in, so here's a little more info.

Gi and No Gi
Pre-Reg $40 $45 at the door 1st division, $5 each additional division. spectators $10

Grappling, 149 & under
150-164lbs
165-179lbs
180-199lbs
200 & up

Grappling divisions are split Novice 1 year and under
Int. 1-2 years
Adv. 2 years and over.

There is usually an absolute division thrown in as well.(There was last year)

If any of this is wrong, you can take it out on Dan :) I took it all from teh flyer. Call Dan or Kelly at 810-664-5574 for more info or go to dragonkarate.net.

So this morning I drove almost 2 hours to get to the tourney. Once there I was told same day registration cost was 75.00, first I had ever seen that figure. I was expecting to pay 45/50 bucks which I still think is a bit much to compete. I walked away. Just cant justify spending 75 to roll at a tourney.

I have the flyer right here. Got it waaaaay too late to get guys ready.

It says on the registration and I quote

"Pre Registration $40 all divisions - At the door $45 first division $5 each additional."

 Below that it has

Please cricle the division you are entering

(KARATE) Open Forms - Trad Forms - Weapons - Sparring

(GRAPPLING) GI - NOGI

So they tried to charge you $75? WTF?

THe grappling event was enjoyable to watch. Many gi white belts. The kid from Dan's school who wrestled at Lapeer East was the toughest white belt in the gi div. and I thing won his no gi division. He was the outstanding competitor at the event in my opinion. Big Don had some of his fighters who showed great balance between standup and mat work and highly competitive. Great to see guys not pulling guard and staying on their feet. Good job Dan C.

yes they tried to charge me 75, i even questioned it but she it it printed on a sheet taped to the table and it was 75, i think this was somehow due to EGF actually running the grappling or something but i was not too happy. lesson learned i guess.

If there was any mix up with pricing I would of taken care of it for you... Most of the guys from this area know me and know that I would have work this out for you. this is the 10 strait year we have had this event and what to provide a place for grapplers to compete in this local area.

This is the first year I have worked with the EFG and was realy happy with the turnout. I was not aware of the price for the grappling / I was not running that part of the tournament. sorry for any mix up...

Who did they advertise the tourny to Dan?

We didnt get flyers til 3 days before the tourney and only then because Vance sent em after talking to garcia..

There was no info online to be found until the week of either.

I'm not sure how anyone made it..Unless they are targeting certain people with the info instead of the general public.

If you've run the grappling tourney for 10 years, knowing the price would've been 2nd nature.

Can someone explain to me who EFG is?

come to CSF. for 10 dollars, we will twist you into positions that would normally cost hundreds.

I went to this one. It was pretty fun. There was this bad-ass ex-national champ wrestler, Jason Holmes, who was super-smooth with takedowns. I thought he was a judo champ or something, because he was just barely touching guys and they would fly off balance.

Anyway, I say props to Dan. I liked the tournament and the mix of grappling and karate and kata stuff. I thought it was cool and original.
