Guys, I have been busy lately working with the USA Jiu Jitsu team trying to get the organization off the ground. Sorry I have not been checking in.

I am announcing the USA Jiu Jitsu Military Championships "WARNING ORDER".

Here is the info:

Who: Open to all DOD (and Coast Guard) ID holders (Active, Reserve, Guard, Retired, Student, or Dependent)
What: Military Jiu-Jitsu Championship (see USAJJ webpage for rules and weight divisions)
When: May 23 (and possibly 24), 2009
Where: National Capital Region (Washington, DC), tentatively Fort Belvior, VA
Why: To showcase military martial arts training; provide a unique qualifier for military personnel and families to be eligible for the USAJJ National Championship; and give an update on USA Jiu-Jitsu and service martial arts/combatives programs.

Please visit our website to find out more about the organization. If you are a Military (or Civilian) Jiu Jitsu/Combatives person, this organization is for you!

We are just getting it going and are excited about what is going to come in the future! non-profit. Most of us are Soldiers/Marines and are using our skills in leadership, training, and running organizations to promote and make Jiu Jitsu affordable, safe, and accessible.

Sorry guys. you can email me if you can't get a hold of anyone. We are experiencing some growing pains as we get this going as we all have full time jobs (Most of us are still in the Army!)

We have a date change, it will now be 4th of July weekend.

Rafie, you can join on our website at http:usajj.com. I am working with our new web manager though to get our membership area fixed in the next few weeks so it will be better.

We appreciate any support you guys can give us as we have only been open since February and we are starting to burn through our cash.

This is going to be a good thing as we get it going for all of us. Especially us military guys that move around from place to place.

We just finished our first "instructor training course", which is unique in jiujitsu. it is modeled on many of the Army courses we teach. I like it because unlike a level I or Level II military course, we are stressing more management, leadership, and teaching skills. Nothing wrong with our MACP courses, but we have a different audience than you get in MACP as most of our guys are blue belts when they take the course, and we have a different focus.

Anyway, I think you guys will like what we are doing. Here is the announcement for this tournament.

Next one? well we have announced our year schedule on the website/blog. http://www.usajj-blog.com/?p=12

Please email me or let me know what questions you guys have. We are concentrating on sport jiu jitsu at this time, but we have plans to get the Military Jiu Jitsu and Military Combatives aspect organized as well. Matt Larsen can talk about this a little more in the future.

We will need your help though as already we are getting very busy! Hooah!
