without a doubt do both. but WAY to many people just stock pile and neglect the skill side. So I point to the weak side "Skill"

Practice 2 skills 2 times per day.
example make a dead fall. set a dead fall.

so you can do it in the dark. then go collect stuff.
balanced plan.

^ You can say that again ^ :)

I don't know enough people who are into this to know if they neglect the skill portion. I'm starting a garden this summer, so I can get comfortable growing my own food. I also practice various knots for snares and tie downs.
