Much better than the last 2 years, though that new rear spoiler looks retarded

Replacing "aero traction" with "mechanical traction" is a good direction but they really need to go further with aero reductions concerning the bodywork or they will still have no passing to speak of.

I've been watching F1 since the 60s and it seems to me that body derived downforce is way too sensitive to being behind another car while spoilers seem relatively unaffected.

If I were running the show, I would mandate a spec. or flat underside and only allow single element spoilers while leaving tire size open.

Huge tires will keep deaths down because they don't need the entire world to line up perfectly to get traction like aero traction does.

Huge tires also let you slow down the car more if your car is spinning since you lose your "aero traction" anytime your car is not pointing perfectly down the track.

It's fucked up. But I like Button so I'm not going to complain too much about it! Still, it wouldn't surprise me at all if the big teams got it turned around and dominated as the year went on.

Not that fucked up really.

McLaren and Ferrari were too busy trying to win the 2008 drivers championship to put a lot of work into the 2009 car.

Honda/Brawn and other rear grid teams knew their 2008 car was crap, and worked on the 2009 car all last year instead.

Now the extra work is showing. Coupled with the restrictions on testing this year, they are in good shape to win the championship.

Not to take anything away from Button, who is in the top three drivers imo.
