Just find a hotel you want and go to their website. You usually get the best deal that way I have found.

goto www.slickdeals.net then to the Hotdeals Forum and a thread will explain it throughly.

It goes something like this: Find the hotel that you like. Goto Orbitz, travelocity, etc. and find a room that is on two or more sites. The rent the room that costs more. Several travel websites have a deal that if you find a room cheaper within 24-48 hours, they will refund the difference plus $50. I have not done the trick, but my friend has many times.

hotwire has worked well, but you don't know exactly where you are staying until you have paid, you just know "Equivalent to Hilton, etc., Downtown City X" but that's why it's such a deal.

call the hotel directly or use their official website or more than likely you will get burned.

Go directly through the hotel. Those aggregator websites make money off charging you around $10.00 MORE than the hotel would. I'm sure there are exceptions.
