Has anybody read this book by Dan Simmons? I'm a little more than half way through it now and I think its a great book. It's about the 1840's voyage of the two ships Erebus and Terror to find the Northwest Passage linking the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.

The two ships never made it back to England and like 120 people died in the frozen north. Simmons makes it a horror book and adds in the element of a giant, savage creature (The Terror) that kills and dismembers the men of the boats when they are frozen in the ice. Its about 750 pages, but I'm flying through it... anybody else reading this ATM?

Finished it awhile ago. Awesome book. The amount of details is incredible, but it never gets overwhelming.
