I am taking an EMT course this August - October and I scored a 97 on the ASVAB when I was 17 (5 years ago). I will start talking to recruiters soon. I would appreciate any sailors esp. corpsmen who have experience to share.

Also, ANY service members who enlisted with a family, how did you do it?

Hey dude.

HM is one of the hardest rates to advance in. Seriously. It takes them forever to make rank. Mainly due to quotas. HM sounds like a cool job and admittedly I would have loved to be one but the advancement is not something im fond of. They go overseas, iraq, ship or a sub. Not to dissuade from HM but imo electronics is best. IS, IT, ET or preferably CT. Subs is cool and a great experience, but its not for everyone. The family will be fine. You'll be away from them for about 2.5 months.

I am (was) a submarine electronics technician. I made e-6 at my 6year point. In any rate, making e-7 takes a lot of effort.

Let me know if you need anymore info. Also, get a bonus.
