Online Gambling: Week 1 College Football Results- Bookmakers Bury Players

Now that Labor Day weekend is officially history, so are the Week 1 College Football games that were played this past Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

It would be safe to say that the bookmakers destroyed the players each day. On Saturday, some of the biggest results that went in favor of the sports books included Penn State not covering against Akron after leading by 31 at halftime. Also, LSU failed to cover against Washington and Oklahoma lost outright to BYU, making it a great day to own a sports book.

The next night, it appeared that both the recreational gambler and the Professionals bet their mortgages believing that Colorado would beat Colorado State. The point spread moved three points at some places, having opened at 10 and closing at 13. Not only didn't Colorado cover, but they lost straight up at home to their rival Colorado State.

Then finally last night, the so called "smart" money was bet on Florida State very late pushing them all the way up to a 6 point favorite at home against Miami. Once again, not only did the favorite fail to cover, but Miami upset Florida State to make it a clean sweep for the bookmakers over the long holiday weekend.

One sports book told EOG that their hold was nearly 10%. Although the handle is not as strong this year compared to last year offshore due to the far reaching effects of the UIGEA, the sports book industry will continue to flourish.

More players are betting with local bookmakers due to the inconvenience of sending money abroad.

....players moved that Auburn line downa  good bit and Auburn crushed in the 2H..
