I had no idea they just leave the dead bodies up there when people die there. Here's a climber that perished and it's too dangerous to bring them down.

On Everest Beyond the Limit tv show they talked about how a Korean expedition was organized for the sole purpose of recovering the body of a countryman. They got to the body and moved it about 400 yards before having to give up because it was to difficult to recover.

One climber said a rescue on Everest was the equivalent of trying to rescue someone stranded on the moon.

Oh yeah, a lot of climbing magazines won't publish photos of the dead because they say it's disrespectful to the climbers and their families.

However, one magazine had a picture of a body that was still sitting up. The equipment looked pristine, the head was stripped to the bone by the elements.

Kinda eerie.

Bunch of dumbasses. Climbing Everest has become a rich guy's adventure tourist trap. They fucking wait in line like they're at the DMV to climb each stage and do it just so they can say they did it.

seems easy I know. I wonder why they can't do this. Just send them down on an inner tube you'd think.

That makes no sense to me. It seems like reaching it would be the hard part.

How can you get there, and then 400 yards later you are like "fuck, dude, let's leave this fucker"?

I can't imagine the environment that would create that situation. What, did they forget the stretcher? Shit, just throw his ass over the side, recover it at the bottom.

The climbers are already at their limits when they get that high. They can barely move.

Now imagine trying to hack a 160-200lb solid block of iced-up body out of the ground and trying to haul it down or push it down the mountain.

That's pretty hard, yo !

Hey, look at that. Someone understands.

Trying to recover a single body will more than likely cause even more bodies, because of the extreme danger involved.

Rob Hall

Hall's death is perhaps the most disturbing, as he radios Base Camp with news about his progress, or lack thereof. They know exactly where he is, but they cannot get to him to help. They can only beg him to descend, but he is too tired and frostbitten to navigate the mountain. Hall's wife says: "Rob and I had talked about the impossibility of being rescued from the summit ridge. As he himself had put it, 'You might as well be on the moon.'" The frustration of being able to speak to Hall and knowing where he is makes his death all the more tragic. The thought of him on the summit ridge, knowing that he must descend but being unable to, being utterly alone and helpless is unbearable. After having looked after the safety of his clients, Hall ends up stranded, with no one looking after him.
