Since 1993 when Royce was tappin fools out before everyone knew what an armbar was, the sport has grown in epic proportions.  Public acceptance, fighters being more well rounded, styles transitioning from one to the next, more reversals and defenses, new offenses and aspects of MMA are displayed in fights, etc.  Where will it be ten years from now?  Will UFC and Strikeforce still be around?  Will Randy still be fighting?

IrishRottie - Most popular sport in the world. Wont be the biggest in terms of revenue.

 No chance whatsoever for both.

It will NEVER be as big as football (soccer).

Nobody gives a shit about football (football) outside of North America.  MMA already has a stronger international fanbase than American football.  Obviously, MMA will never surpass American football in the USA, but it has already surpassed it most everywhere else.

Let's make a bet... MMA will at least surpass NFL in ten years... I'd say basketball, soccer and golf are the most popular "global" sports, so maybe it'll just over shadow the NFL...

You haven't really "made it" until you've made it in New York.

Hopefully, they can get legalization passed.

Then why do they call Mousasi the STRIKEFORCE light heavyweight champion, idiot?

For the same reason they call Joe Mauer the American League MVP...Many different leagues playing the same sport

MMA will mature. the ufc will sooner or later be knocked down a few notches as the sport evolves, and some real competition will come in for them. hopefully strikeforce will lead the way.

it will NEVER be the biggest sport. in fact, it will never even scrape the bottom of any of the main stream sports. Fads jump high quick, and die fast. to become as big as any of the bigs, you have to have history, maturity, and a long time following. None of which the UFC has at this early age.

hopefully the wrong people don't get involved, but if you ever want to see it mature correctly? this organizational title shit needs to go. belt's should be governed by a central body (and not the clusterfuck wamma) and then, and ONLY then will there be real champions. after which the org belts will all be much much much less important.

as long as corruption doesn't get too bad, this could be a fucking great sport. but just like boxing, it will never, ever be the biggest.
