Ricardo Funch has been forced off next month's UFC 111 preliminary card due to injury, and UFC newcomer Greg Soto is expected to take his spot on the preliminary card against Matthew Riddle.

Soto, who trains under fellow UFC 111 fighter Kurt Pellegrino, has a perfect 7-0 record, with five wins via submission. The two-time Ring of Combat fighter is an instructor at Pellegrino's Mixed Martial Arts Academy in New Jersey.

Greg Soto looked great in his last fight. I was all the way up in New Town, North Dakota for the event supporting Elena Reid, who was also on the card. Soto has a very fluid and relentless ground game. He strings submission attempts together with ease. He had a very impressive performance against Ray Steinbeiss. He went from a deep D'Arce choke attempt to back control, where he ended up finishing the fight with an RNC.

Here's a review on the event and the fight:

Pellegrino MMA Academy is the place to be... im so proud to have my first student fight in the greatest organization, the UFC. Greg has been with me since white belt and I just promoted him last night to brown, an hour after I got the UFC call. he had no idea about either announcement so it was an awesome night. He's a great kid with mad skills, huge heart and he will fight to the death. It will be a great fight and a great night for our team!!

A foot injury has caused Ricardo Funch to withdraw from his scheduled fight with Matt Riddle at UFC 111 on March 27. Funch’s trainer, Marco Alvan, confirmed the news.

“He hurt his foot. He got a big cut and has nine stitches,” said Alvan. “He’s been unable to train so he’ll have a few weeks off.”

Alvan thinks Funch could be back to fight in two-three months
