While Strikeforce has some work to do before deciding who Walker's opponent would be in his second pro fight, the promotion has definitely decided that it will not be Canseco.

"That's not going to happen," Coker said. "I know he wants to fight and he trained with Cesar Gracie, but I don't think he's training with Cesar anymore."

While on the subject of old guys looking for one more chance at glory, Coker said he doesn't want Strikeforce to be the place for UFC cast-offs. Asked if he's interested in Mark Coleman and Frank Trigg, both of whom were released after losing fights this month, Coker said, "No, I'm not. No. I would say no."

i don't understand the line of thought with cansenco. its not like the public at large is going to see hershel walker and bobby lashley as legitimate competitors (especially given their matchups), but cansenco as a goof.

might as well get some eyeballs on the product and get jose in there too. i know i would rather see walker/concensco than walker/nagy II.

I guess he is tired of having his announcers call all his fighters "former UFC" fighters.

Coker may not be interested, but I'm sure Showtime/CBS is.

Trigg would be a solid strikeforce addition.

Coleman would be a decent addition to the HY roster as well.

Fuck hershal walker and jose conseco.

Of course they're interested. Without the UFC castaways/rejects, they don't have a roster.

I'm not sure how I feel about walker. But coleman brings little to nothing to the table. neither does trigg. not for the money i'm sure they'd want.

I think Trigg is the only one that might add something, though he obviously didn't look very good in the UFC. I don't see how he's going to refuse all UFC castoffs when there's not that many established pros out there for them that will add compelling matchups, and half of their roster is already from the UFC as it is.

neither coleman or trigg bring many, if any new fans. and even though he's a newbie Walker puts strikeforce on the front page of ever sports paper, website and tv show on the planet. So much so it infuriated dana.

not a hard question to answer.

I think Trigg would have a little more to offer than Coleman, but not much.

Bill Pharoni - Of course they're interested. Without the UFC castaways/rejects, they don't have a roster.
Really?

HW Champ - Alistair Overeem (never in UFC) & Fedor by default (never in UFC)
205 Champ - Gegard (never in ufc)
185 Champ - Jake Shields (never in UFC)
170 Champ - Nick Diaz (in the ufc)
155 Champ - Gil Melendez (never in UFC)

Top contenders:
Brett Rogers (never in the UFC)
Jacare (never in UFC)
Tyron Woodley (never in UFC)
Joey Villasenor (never in the UFC)
Mayhem Miller (one ufc fight against GSP)
Robbie Lawler (in the UFC)
Dan Henderson (in the UFC)
Josh Thompson (in the UFC)

So there is one champ who was ever in the UFC and four/five (Mayhem) top contenders who were never in the UFC.

Good for him. When fighters leave on a losing note from the UFC they are basically damaged goods. No matter how good they do for the next promotion the UFC can always say they didn't make it in the UFC or their time has passed. Keeps rival companies as 2nd rate in the eye of the casual fan.

Under the right circumstances it might be alright but these two are not the right circumstances.

I am 47 years also,
I am an Ice Hockey Player,
I am a active Pro MMA Fighter,
I am an Alliance Black Belt in BJJ,
I am 2-1 in MMA as a Pro,
I do want to fight Hershel,
I have contacted Strikeforce and would be a good opponent for the dude. I ain't sayin I 'm a shit-hot fighter.
I would be a legitimate fight for Mr. Walker.
