one of my boys was on that card, and i'm telling you, even the highest paid guy on that card will tell you that it's almost impossible to make ends meet on that...

^ how much did your boy make in sponsorship money? is fighting his only source of income? i just find it hard to believe that the fighters on the low end of the scale depend on their WEC paycheck to make ends meet. if anything, the WEC paycheck should supplement their regular income until they are financially secure.

It's a sport, not an essential service. They'll make what they can negotiate.

Pretty tough for them to pay much more without PPV money coming in. I'm doubting Versus pays big money to televise. The live gate is probably about 80-90% of the total revenue.

People complaining about WEC fighter's pay and then complaining about how they won't pay for a WEC PPV. You can't have it both ways.

People want to pay for these guys if they have title bouts on a UFC card but not on their own.

WEC fighters fight about 3 times a year on Versus.

All those other athletes play their sport much more frequently on bigger channels with bigger sponsors and audience.

Huge difference.

yeah, he makes a little on sponsorship. luckily he's quite young and doesn't have shit for bills. i was just saying that it's unfortunate that these PRO'S can't make a living...

Well then maybe WEC should be focusing on getting on a bigger channel and not focusing on asking people (ME and YOU) to pay $45 to view their sporting event.

Yes, because it's just that simple.

your right. i guess i get a little frustrated because i know that the UFC owns them and they aren't hurting for cash... oh wait, that's because for the most part, they don't pay shit either...

hopefully he puts together a string of wins so when it's time to sign another contract he will make some more. on the more negative side, i can't bring myself to really feel bad for these fighters when i have to work hard to make ends meet too.

i do realize that it's the fans complaining out loud, as i rarely see fighters come on the UG to complain about pay (unless they didn't get paid at all, which i understand).

I claimed it was simple?

And what reality are you referring to? That one where Strikeforce is on CBS paying very notable fighters within a non-PPV channel? The one where I'm not gonna be a sucker and dish out $45 every sat night like a WWE soap opera fanboy?
