Rumor started flying a solid week ago, yet nobody, neither the UFC or SF has made the next move.  This is the ultimate game of high-stakes chicken.  It looks like SF is waiting till the very last second, plus 2 weeks to announce their plans, and the UFC will wait it out just to have the final move in this crazy duel to the death.

I love the tension.

I'm probably wrong, but I dont see the UFC countering a live CBS show, the ratings would be close and it just gives Strikeforce more credibility in the public and makes Strikeforce appear to be at the UFC's level and legit competition

It was probbaly just a bluff to get SF to move there show to fuck with them

Best guess is that both companies have down payments and reservations on arenas (likely in vegas, where the action nearly always gets sold out) for the date and a few weeks on either side. And they're more than willing to lose those payments if the date/location just happens to land wrong. It's a difficult business, but one in which the UFC is willing to lose a bunch to win in the end.

No surprises here at all.

There's no move for SF to make at this point. Meltzer reported a couple days ago that they're sticking with the 17th and can no longer move it if they wanted to.

Timmy B - Strikeforce has no choice but 4/17. They have been giving empty threats from the start. They never had the option to switch.

The mere chance of a UFC card will hurt SF ticket sales. People will wait to buy just in case....

They had the option to switch if they wanted to foot the bill for their own production, since the crew will be doing the Super 6 that night.
