when using Euler's formulae for buckling for looking at loadings on a vertical 'I' or 'H' beam (universal column, or universal beam), what value do you use for the second moment of area(I).

I am used to dealing with loadings on the top flange of beams (so obvious which 'I' value to use,(not using Eulers of course but stress calcs)).

do i just use the lowest of the x-x, y-y values?
