It is with deep sorrow that I announce that long time Extreme student and friend Brendon Merritt passed away a couple of days ago.

Brendon's time ended way too soon. He was always a great guy to roll with, and also a great guy to have some laughs with.

RIP Brendon, you'll be missed mate.

Ronny.

My god..My condolences...

Never had the chance to actually train with him (different clubs), but used to have some long convo's (debates/arguments) with him at all of the comps in the old days and when he was bouncing at some bars. Always a nice bloke.

I was actually talking to some guys at training about how this forum used to be great with him around..

RIP

Byron

bigD13B, you got a mention at Brendon's funeral. People were talking about their experiences with him and some of the guys mentioned your big suplex on him at the ADCC trials a few years ago. Brendon had a good chuckle about it later that night, once the dizziness cleared :-)

I always wonderred what happened to him when he stopped posting here. Good to see he stayed involved with BJJ/MMA.

Must have been 3yrs plus since he posted?

Again RIP.

That is really terrible news.

I worked with Brendon years ago in security, trained and competed against him (lost to him too) and considered him a genuine straight up guy. He would typically say what he thought, and despite raising a few eyebrows, he could always back it up with a thoughtful opinion, and often changed my attitude on issues I was polarised with.

Probably my fondest memory of him is the day he competed against Sam Greco at Hangar 4 TGONTG competition and went the 10 minutes with him, an extraordinary achievement.

I'd appreciate it if someone could let me know what happened, off the forum is fine if that is more appropriate.

RIP

Gerald
