New England's Christian Morecraft has signed a four-fight contract with the UFC and is expected to face Stefan Struve in his first Octagon experience, according to reports from the MMA Fight Council.

If the bout is finalized, the two are expected to meet on Aug. 7 at UFC 117 in Oakland, Calif.

Morecraft is 6-0 as a professional, all six wins taking place in Massachusetts.

Struve, at 19-4, holds a tremendous experience advantage over Morecraft. He is also looking to bounce back from a first-round TKO loss to Roy Nelson back in March.

Wow talk about being thrown into the deep end of the pool this could very well be a Paulo Thiago/Koscheck or Junior Dos Santos/Werdum type debut or it could be a guy seeing the next level of competition. Very interesting matchup.

Whats he weigh? Height?

Struve has got to be a tough guy to fight given his height.

I think Morecraft is 6'5". Big kid. A lot of raw talent but I think he may be jumping in the deep end too soon. He has some solid wins over Diekman and Beane but for the most part has been protected by his manager (who is also his promoter.) This will be a good test for him.

Great to see Morecraft get his shot, he definitely deserves it. Hopefully it's not a bridge too far.

Hopefully Morecraft is ready for the next level; he has shown great skill in his local bouts, but this will be a huge step up in competition.

This is the UFC,there are no easy fights. Moorecraft will only get better, his striking skills have improved much since his first 3 fights,he will also be training with Team Sit Yod Tong to further those skills. Congradulations Christian, your hard work paid off .

I have reffed Morecraft several times now. It was only a question of when, not if, that he would be in the UFC.
