I've been clearing lots of brush and trees out of fencelines the last couple of weeks. Three people killed while cutting trees in the area this year. I'm careful.

A few days after I last posted in this thread, my grandfather nearly killed himself cutting firewood. Self sufficiency is dangerous.

Helena

cool thread. we are closing on our house/5 acres in a week or so.... this thread inspires.

we are going to put up a green house because we don't feel like an outside garden would survive all the critters. found a cool plan here http://ana-white.com/2012/05/plans/barn-greenhouse and will be doing a variation on it. Going to start with a few chickens. The only outside connection is electricity, but obviously have propane trucked in. we have a wood stove as well in the ground floor. would like some solar, just to make sure the freezer doesn't tanks if we lose power.

I like them a lot, I am going to mail seed husks to some forum members this spring, your original seeds are going to be all along the eastern seaboard

Right on brochacho! Glad you like them. I canned some last year and they make a tasty jam when mixed with strawberries. Phone Post 3.0

Any recommendations for a long term seed bank storage? My mom has a gigantic greenhouse with a lot of heirloom seeds she would like to save and reuse year after year. I need to find something to keep lots of seed varieties. Phone Post 3.0
