Any chance there will be a sambo tournament in california in the near future? The only chance I've had at competing in one was Las Vegas in '07. Sadly I missed that opportunity.

Definitely saving the date and planning to attend. I am currently injured but would love to be a spectator. At least one person I train bjj/judo (and has sambo experience as well) with plans to enter...I have tried to find a website for the tournament but it is far enough away that I understand details are not at hand yet.

Due to some unforseen circumstances, we needed to change our event location. It actually worked out very well and we have secured a great new facility for our event. Please make note that the event WILL NOT be held at the Central Texas Performing Arts Center. We will now be hosting our event at the Austin Sports Center(Cedar Park).

New Hotel information will be coming soon.

Hey Steve,

Is there a site I can download a rule set for these competitions? I'd like to introduce more open rule sets around my town, and I'm comparing quite a few ideas.

Only 2 days left for pre-registration discounts folks!

I am also very happy to announce that this year, M1-Global has been generous to donate 4 all access passes to their upcoming December 11th M1 Challenge XXII at Bally’s Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, NJ (date subject to change). Titles will be on the line as M1 Selection Champions from around the world will do battle for the M1 Challenge championship belts!

The ASA will award one all access pass to the following award winners at this years North American Freestyle Sambo Championships:

1) Fastest submission
2) Match of the day (determined by event officials)
3) Best throw (determined by event officials)
4) First technical victory (First technical victory, or largest point differential)

@junon

When the ASA created these less restrictive sambo rules, we used the term "freestyle" as a reference to the old term "Freestyle Wrestling" which was what sambo was originally called back in the day (not to be confused with today's "freestyle wrestling")
