If Pavia is still representing Hieron, that's going to be an awkward negotiation with UFC

I finally got my release from SF... Y'all know what I'm about to do!!!!!!!

What? Why was he released?

I thought he was supposed to be one of the front-runners for a WW title shot?

Strikeforce had matching rights on Hieron and decided to waive it and allow Hieron to become a free agent. Same thing happened with Jake Shields.

we interviewed jay a few months ago and he told us he wasnt signed with them. so im not sure if this really means he got released and more so that they just couldnt work out a contract. my memory is a little fuzzy but i seem to recall jay saying that he was a free agent. keep in mind this was a few months ago, nothing new.

Didn't he say he wasn't fighting because he was dealing with personal problems?

Not sure where Pavia said it but he said SF had a very long matching rights period. Longer than the typical 90 days

thats what he told us Dawkins. i just re-listened to the interview we did with him. he said his contract was up in January and he had a 90 day grace peiod so that puts him at the end of April at the latest. None of this really matters though, I'm jsut being picky at the moment. From the convo we had with him negotiations with him and SF were ongoing it seemed. The was a good peiod there where he was dealing with SF. Maybe once he got his personal stuff handled and he got back to negotiations he just ended up not liking the offer. who knows. maybe i'll reach out to him to get some clarification.

If my memory serves me correct, I believe he was going through a divorce.

I'd say Bellator was a possibility but does Bellator have a future in 2011 if the only tv outlet available to them is the current FSN deal? You can't make money with that deal. You can't even come close to breaking even. I have to think it's ESPN or Bellator ceases to exist after this season.

Unless that venture capital company in NYC backing Bellator is willing to burn more money with the hope a better television opportunity presents itself

Bellator also has a deal with Telemundo. I've seen Bellator on both Telemundo and mun2.

Hieron got jerked around a couple of times by SF if I remember correctly.

He was supposed to fight Nick Diaz for the title at SF: Carano/Cyborg but Diaz didn't do his drug test so Hieron ended up fighting and beating Jesse Taylor. Then they were supposed to fight at SF: Miami but SF did Diaz/Zaromskis instead, leaving Hieron to fight Joe Riggs, who he beat. He got put on the prelims on both shows as well even though he was their only realy WW contender. Now he's just been sitting on the sidelines since January.

Gotta figure he'll end up in Bellator or the UFC.
