I hate tournaments where one guy is allowed to flop his ass to the ground like that. Ryans the one butt scooting around and the ref makes Hermes engage. Ryan should at least attempt a takedown or have some sort of grip before butt flopping.

Asscobra has a good point.  But, still a great match.  Hall has some awesome transitions.

I'm sorry I wasn't able to do better on that one. Was really sick with the flu, lost 9 lbs in the week before the match without even training (from being sick), and had almost zero energy.

I don't ususally like sitting guard like that anymore, but didn't have the juice to do much of anything else. Same reason I spent the last 8 minutes of the match just defending.

I'll try to be more aggressive next time around.

The path you took to back right there at the beginning was full on matrix grappling, i talked about it for days and I just watched it 5 straight times trying to figure out how you got to the truck from a stuffed waiter sweep, beautiful Jitz right there Phone Post

Great match. That transition from half guard to the back was crazy

And a guy should be allowed to butt scoot around as long as he's moving forward and engage, which Ryan was. Don't have a problem with it. It's an excellent strategy if you wanna end up on bottom.

I didn't mean you aren't exciting to watch, I'm just a big fan throws and takedowns. I've been watching you compete since purple and you are one of my all time favorites.

I wonder what Ryan's thoughts are about getting to the 'truck' as well. I wonder if he even acknowledges it as the 'truck'. I seriously doubt it, but what do I know.

I think I figured out which was the stuffed waiter sweep, but can someone please tell me what "the truck" is?

It's one of Bravo's bogus names for a jiu-jitsu position. I think he's referring to the position Ryan had right before he rolled and took Hermes' back.

Ryan Hall is not an Eddie Bravo student to my knowledge.

So he might as well be commentating in French because non 10th Planet guys don't have a clue what he's talking about.

Could Eddie be so good that even guys who don't train his style inadvertently use his moves?

How very pretentious.

i learned that deep half sweep as "little chair"....can anyone clarify?

was that an intentional transition to the back or bad scrambling from hermes? or both?

Yeah, it definitely looked like Ryan made a planned transition from sweep to back take. I can't wait for his next DVD series. He seems to be using more half guard than anything else in competition now.

Ryan Thatcher.   If you don't like the "bogus" name, The Truck, then what do YOU call that particular position?  Not throwing any insults at you, just asking a straight up question.

That was a sick match, Ryan. I always describe your style as rubber and glue. If your ever in south Florida I can set you up with a super fight plus we offer $1000 for our nogi pro div. Ruben Alvarez jr has competed for us, maybe we could set up a rematch... Phone Post

 Ryan Thatcher.  Thanks for answering.

If nobody has a name for it, what's wrong with a legit Jiu Jitsu instructor calling it The Truck?  Isn't having a name for it better than, "that position when one guy is.....and the other guy is....."?  Doesn't seem like anybody else has a name for it.
