Considering how the Chiefs did when Matt Cassel was out, you can make an out-of-the-box yet plausible case for Cassel as League MVP, and for Josh Freeman too.

And playing devil's advocate - or should I say, dog-lover's advocate? - re Michael Vick?  Assuming the Eagles do finish 12-4 after beating a dome team in a blizzard and the Cowboys without even Jon Kitna, let alone Tony Romo, ask yourself: What would their final record have been without Vick?  At least 9-7, maybe 10-6 with Kevin Kolb at QB.

By contrast, the Chiefs and Buccaneers would have been completely in the toilet without Cassel and Freeman, respectively.

SiftMyMind - Attn: My Dear Friend Doomsday,

KC is at the top of it's division.
Two games left to go.
First game against Tenn. then against Oak.
Both games are very winnable.
If KC wins both, they:
- win their division
- they guarantee themselves a place in the playoffs

Not a bad spot for a team that went 4-12 last year, huh?

Even if the unthinkable happens and they lose both games and miss the playoffs, I think it would be fairly obvious to all (even the haters) that KC has turned its fortunes around and has very exciting future ahead of it.

Good day to you, sir.

Thanks to Cinci, SD gave us the guarantee.
I'll take it. Now to beat Oak for the home game.

The Chiefs played 3 games against teams with winning records this season. They played SD twice and Indy once. Still, an impressive turnaround.

AFC West is one of two divisions in the NFL that has 3 teams with a .500 for better record.

Not bad for a team that was 4-12 last year!

Look...I don't think the Chiefs will make it very far in the playoffs this year.
The club still has a long way to go.
My thing is the direction the club is going and it would seem that they are heading in the right direction.

Pretty much what everyone expected. Easy to look good when all you do is play scrubs. Cassel looked good though, didn't he.

Especially after winning ten games in 3 years. Cassel looked way better than Brodie, didn't he?

Well I guessed our wins correctly. 303 also owes me around a half year of owning his screen name. Any ideas, folks?

My Offseason Chiefs needs, in no particular order.

RT - Somebody has got to lock this spot.
ILB - Yes, Belcher is better in almost every way than Mays. He is still not good enough.
C - Casey will retire a Chief, where he belongs, we need a new Center.
NT - Ron Edwards didn't do bad at NT, but we need a manbeast here.
WR - Easy to double Bowe with no number 2!

There are others, these are most important.

These are most important.

Also, we need to keep looking for a QB. I think unless you have Brady, Manning or someone like that, you should constantly churn QB's! Cassel is not Brady or Manning.

Interesting tidbit:

When Haley arrived as HC he cut 33 members of the team.
4 are still in the NFL.

Added - That was two years ago. Also consider the 2009 draft yielded one starter for us. The kicker, Ryan Succop. The other guys don't see much playing time.

The loss of Weiss is disappointing and hinders the team's progress.
I am a little consoled by the fact that Haley's experience is based on the offensive side of the ball (he was OC in Arizona before being HC in KC).

Dooms,

Who would you like to see as the new OC?
(If you say McDaniels, you and I are going to fight)

Who said anything about a super bowl? At least I believe in my team. You give up on yours every other quarter.

Actually I predicted our win total. Did not predict a playoff victory. I even mentioned division title. You wait until an outcome is almost determined, then make a prediction and your still wrong. So fuck off!

I'm not a fan of McDaniels. He has some innovative schemes, sure. Otherwise, I honestly don't know anything about the OC candidates out there.

I think someone familiar with the offense would be helpful. :P It is NOT going to change, Haley will call plays beforethat happens.
