Gee, that MIGHT happen when you come in 4lbs over weight and then get choked.  Maybe next time he'll take his weight cut seriously and show up at weight.

Great and gutsy decision.

Shows that even if you are a "poster boy", you can be cut if you come in overweight.

Dana JUST HAD a talk with the fighters after the Alves screw up, and this guy comes in at the very next UFC and does not make weight?

JOB - Travis Lutter was cut quicker.

Nope.

Lutter had his first post-TUF fight in Feb. 2007 and wasn't released until April 2008 after losing to Franklin.

Efrain had his first post-TUF fight in Sept. 2009 and is cut in Sept. 2010.

I don't understand the reasoning behind this. Efrain is young and talented as well as a representative for Mexican mma. He's only lost to two fighters, both very tough fighters who will be at the top of their divisions soon. Poor choice IMO but then again I'm not running the most successful mma promotion in the world so whatevs Phone Post

Mexican fighters should get a 4lb weight allowance every fight. Not fair to make them cut from mexican food.

If we was a white guy with a shaved head and covered in tatoos they would have extended his deal and gave him a pay raise once he beat Cole Miller. Phone Post

With missing weight PLUS his incredibly lack-luster performance, it doesn't necessarily surprise me. It's good though that they're willing to do that.

"So much for uFc wanting to appeal to the Latino audience, I guess that was a crock. "

You're an idiot. Race had nothing to do with the decision, and it never should whether that be to protect him or condemn him; why should his ethnicity save him? The guy is small for 155... and came in 4 pounds over... not to mention he hasn't been too impressive in his last few fights.

We don't know what kind of attitude he had towards the UFC personnel; we have no idea how willing he was to accept fights. All we know is that he was cut after having a poor performance against a guy he looked tailor made to beat. Other factors could be involved as well.

He made a big mistake this time around, and it cost him the best job he has had. I'm sure this isn't something he's taking lightly. Hopefully he can recover from this and work his way back. I wish him well, and I'll keep an eye on his career. I doubt this is the end for him, and if he uses this as motivation, we'll see him back in a big show sooner rather than later.

weird decision

they keep Danzig around after losing 4 of his last 5, but cut Escudero after losses to Dunham and Oliveira?

guess they're trying to make an example of guys who miss weight
