Daniel O'Brien won 1st in brown/black and 1st in expert no gi. Matt Ward won 1st in purple and 1st in expert no gi.

I haven't heard back from the rest of the guys from Triad yet.

Or it's my teammate and it's tradition and shows respect. Plus I train with him enough to know what would happen if I faced him. Phone Post

Or, it's teh ghey. And there is absolutely nothing traditional about bowing out. If BJJ ever wants to be considered a real sport then guys on the same team are going to have to start competing against one another. Or just don't enter the tournament where there is a chance to meet. It's lame and nothing you can say will make it un lame. Bjj could never be an Olympic sport with the crap that goes on at these "tournaments." it will never exist outside the world of shady Brazilian politics and the new breed of idiotic Americans who perpetuate its bad habits and "traditions." Speaking of lame... "teh ghey"? I don't think I'll take lame vs not lame advice from a grown man that talks/types like this. But that's besides th point. Why would I risk injuring myself or risk my teammate getting injured. Plus this was the first division of the day, why waste energy? We don't have the egotistical mindset of I have to beat you. I honestly could not care less. I go out there to compete and get some grappling time in. With your attitude, it would be hard to ever humble yourself enough to actually learn and get better. So you can keep doing things your way, and we will keep doin things our way and cleaning out tournaments. Phone Post

You're right. I shouldn't use senseless Internet jargon. What I should have said is that bowing out is for flaming homosexuals who only add to the laundry list of reasons for bjj being held back as a legitimate sport. Sorry. Correction made. Phone Post

I think it would be stupid to actually compete against your own guys when you still have several divisions ahead of you, especially when you KNOW who would win. Not only are you needlessly tiring yourself out, you also risk giving away potential holes in each other's game.

BTW, results were posted today and Triad placed 3rd as a team. Congrats guys.

What's stupid is going to NAGA (what appears to be the most organized grappling org.) and having your brackets changed during comp because half the guys in the tournament are from Alliance. Or pick your team. It's counterproductive to the evolution of the sport. 80% of the crap that goes on there would not be allowed to happen in a local church kickball tournament, much less a national event. Phone Post
