Monsters Ball -
Kenny Smith's take on the best point guards right now.  He has an interesting perspective...

The Destroyer88 - It's easy to look great when you are on a team with four future HoFers and Jermaine O'Neal. Rondo wouldn't have the success he is having now if he was on a team with a bunch of duds.

This.......imagine how many assists a guy like nash or CP3 could rack up if he was running with KG, Allen and Pierce and was told that he didn't even have to look at the basket for scoring.  Whether Rondo's a real stud, or just a perfect fit PG on one of the most well constructed teams in NBA history won't be seen till the big 3 are retired and we see what he does without them.

CP3 had a couple NASTY steals last night in their win over Portland. They are now 8 and 0.

Lebron isn't a point guard. If he's a point guard, so was Antoine Walker. Mike Bibby is the point guard.

1. Deron Williams

2. Chris Paul

3. Rondo

4. Nash

5. Rose (MVP doesn't mean he's better at his position than other people or a better player. It means he meant more to his team winning)

Rose is not what everyone wants him to be. He's not even a true PG. He should be a SG if the Bulls had anyone else to run the offense.

Agree with him not being what everyone wants him to be, but not with him being number 5. Maybe 3 behind d-will and cp3.

He should stay playing point though, a different type of 1. I think he can do more to help the team as a 1 then a 2 even if they have a top 8-15 pg. rose is too small and not good enough at 1 on 1 D yet to gaurd the 2. now rose is stronger than most pgs, so if he learns to play the post...

Mike Bibby is purely a shooting guard at this point in his career on the Heat. Chalmers is when he is in the game too. When Lebron is out of the game it's Wade running the point.

Right now, the Heat's best line up is James, Wade, Miller, Bosh, and Haslem. It's clear James is the PG. He plays like a PG on offense, and guards the other teams PG when it matters. I know it's all semantics, but Lebron does what point guards do. We just don't like to call him a point guard because he is 6'8" and his name isn't Magic.

But that's really why the Heat are so much better now than what they were at the start of the season, besides finally being healthy. Their weakness was the PG position, so they basically made Lebron their PG on both ends of the floor.

You can't call him a pg because if he was a true point, they wouldn't have needed to get Bibby. He's a point forward. It's a hybrid. Lebron isn't a point guard. It isn't semantics. He runs the offense alot but so does Jason Terry on the Mavs. Is he the best PG in the league coming off the bench?

Nah, he'll probably still just be a super athletic chucker who makes bad decisions.

Westbrook relies completely on his athletic ability. How many of these guys ever have long great careers? He's too emotional and thinks too highly of his game. He's a shoot first pg who forgets his team when facing adversity.

When he slows down, what will he have? His decision making isn't going to improve. Very rarely do these types of players improve their egos or decision making.

Being marbury 2.0 or Iverson 2.0 is what he looks like right now. That is not a compliment.

Let me put it this way. You can replace every teams starting PG with Lebron, and that team would be better. Way better. Mike Bibby is a shooter. That's why they got him. Not because they needed a point guard. It's clear they don't need a point guard, because they have Lebron.

he's only 22 so he won't be slowing down anytime soon. he's also not a pure PG since he was a SG in college but he still managed to average 8 assists a game (he's improved his numbers every season).

Jason Terry isn't a point guard either. Are you trolling or do you watch the games? Terry comes off the bench as a SG and is rarely if ever on the floor without a pg. He is a terrible point guard because he looks for his shot first, as he should, because he's a shooting guard.

Lebron is a great player. He can do it all. But he isn't a true point guard and his making any team better wouldn't be because he's a point, it's because he's the best player in the league right now.

If you put Dwight Howard on any team at "point guard" (that just happened to have a real pg on the floor with him at all times, he'd make any team better too.

Jason terry runs point for Dallas regularly. He replaces Kidd. Barrea comes in later most of the time.

Just because a guy mainly shoots doesn't mean he isn't a PG. You just said earlier that Bibby is Miami's PG. How is he any different than Terry? All he's in there to do is shoot. He doesn't handle the ball or distribute. When it counts he's not even guarding the other teams PG.

If you don't think Terry is a PG, then that means Bibby isn't a PG, which makes Lebron Miami's PG, thus Lebron is the best PG in the league.

And as far as the whole replacing any other pg, I meant straight up playing the same role. If you switched Howard with Rose, I'm saying Howard would start in Rose's place, not in Noah or Boozer's place.

Wow, you have idea what you're talking about. Terry comes in to replace Stevenson at SG with Kidd still in the game. Then Barea comes in to replace Kidd. Terry is never running the point he just ends up controlling possessions if he sees the ball

He runs the point as much as Barea does IMO. When they are out there together they both share point duties IMO. But yes you are correct Terry either plays with Kid or Barea on the court. You win this time!

But Lebron is still the best PG in the league. I would rather have Lebron run PG for my team than any other player.
