· Saunders Picks Up Win At WEF Event

World Extreme Fighting MMA promotion once again held an event this past weekend at the Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimee, Fla. In an evening packed with action, the fans surely got their money's worth—with three of the fights ending in a total of 40 seconds and only one of the fights going to the judges' score cards. In addition, those in attendance received an extra bonus of an in cage wedding prior to the night's festivities. The card featured several professional debuts as well as the triumphant return of local fighter, Ben "Killa B" Saunders. If the WEF and matchmaker Jamie Levine continue to put on consistently amazing cards, they will remain a formidable force in the Florida MMA scene. Here is a recap of the exciting night of fights.

Josh Montoro vs. Joey Galaso

The first fight of the evening did not last very long as Montoro and Galaso met in the center of the cage and let the punches fly. Galaso was swinging wildly, while Montoro was not. Montoro landed a right hook that hit so hard that you could see a mist of sweat fly up like an explosion had occurred. Galaso went crashing to the mat with his leg folded up under him, eerily similar to Cro Cop vs. Gonzaga. The medics were able to return Galaso to consciousness but it was too late as the ref stopped the fight at just 18 seconds into the very first round.

Elijah Harshbarger vs. Ben Saunders

Saunders showed what everyone knew before the fight even started, that he was the superior striker. What people did not know was how Saunder's takedown defense would hold up against the strong grappling of Harshbarger. Ben showed a greatly improved takedown defense and even controlled Harshbarger against the cage, causing Harshbarger to try and jump up and pull guard, though Saunders defended it well. Saunders then used his world famous knees to punish the insides of Harshbarger's own knees, leaving his legs visibly battered.

Once the fight got back to the center of the cage, Saunders landed what appeared to be a short elbow that immediately led to blood pouring out from below Harshbarger's left eye. Saunders followed up with a flurry that caused Harshbarger to fall to the mat. Saunders rained down punches as Harshbarger attempted to defend. Harshbarger clearly could not see out of his left eye and had no choice but to tap to avoid any further damage.
