Play for two hours, build up a decent stack, near the bubble in a $75 online tourney, take some hits and find yourself at 13BB in the big blind. SB shoves and barely has you covered. You have AT.

You call, obviously, as I did. Villain = K4.

Flop: 3-7-J
Turn: T
River: K (of course)

The blinds never fail to crush my spirit. lol

Yes, bad beat story. Unless anyone thinks I shouldnt have called a shove from there.

By the way, I know that it's not a bad beat preflop. I mean, I'm way ahead, but he'll win something like 30% of the time, but after a T on the turn and with only one card to go...it just sucks to see your tournament life end near the bubble with a 3 outer.

Did you see the bad beat that knocked me out of the last live tournament I played in?

Flopped broadway on a rainbow board. Villain bets the flop, I raise, he reraises, I shove, he calls with A2. The board is AKQ. The turn is a Q. The river is a Q. LOL

Thats my sickest bad beat and Ill probably tell it a hundred more times before Im dead.

Absolutely. And it's the dealer who rigs it, hence the reason I throw my cards at them.

(not really)

 My analysis of this hand.

PREFLOP
My call preflop is probably pretty bad.  It's my style of play to play a lot of hands, and see a lot of flops.  I normally don't see them for THIS much money but I was stuck a couple of buy ins.  I was targetting UTG who I felt would most likely call the button's raise after I called (we had some history and had played a lot of hands against one another).  If the raiser has AK then the pot odds aren't that bad, plus I have implied odds.  If the raiser has an overpair the pot odds are not good.  That being said, there are implied odds, some of which could be quite negative if i'm dominated.

POSTFLOP
This is the strength of my game, and I think I played this well.  I like leading out on the flop because if players have hands like AK or underpairs then I can take down a healthy pot right there.  They may bluff raise me, and I'm of course very happy to go all in on this flop as i'm a favorite even against AA or KK here.  If they have a flush draw we may get it all in and they are drawing quite thin.

The turn is a great card for me obviously.  It leaves KK only 2 outs to win the hand.  Even if my opponent has a Queen I still have outs to win/split the pot.  The bet of only $6.50 could be a value bet, but could also seem weak like I'm just trying to see a river.  It's hard for a player at this level to fold a hand against that bet.  However, I mainly sized it like that so my opponent couldn't fold the river, which I would instashove regardless of what card came (the jack isn't a good card for me but there was no card that would have prevented me from instashoving there).  I'm not 100% sure I still have the best hand but in most instances I do, and I don't see how a real hand can fold this especially considering my style of play and the fact that I could have easily had a flush draw.

I like your analysis. Thanks!

I love this part: "I normally don't see them for THIS much money"

THIS much = $.50. :)

THIS much = $2.25.  It was a re-raise to 10x the big blind.  I call a lot when people raise 3x to 4x the BB.

Arghh...I scrolled up to the first post you made on this thread when I wanted to see how much you were calling to see the flop.
