The pontiac is actually a watered down GTS. Aussie designed car with american muscle under the bonnet, good combo.

lol @ the guys recommending pontiacs and whatnot. He said RELIABILITY.

Get a older EVO. More specifically, a Evo 6.

I've had every Evo from the right hand drive japanese 1/2/3 and 4, to the newer ones.
I have driven them as daily drivers in snowstorms and rough weather, I have raced them professionally and set speed records with them at the 1/4 mile. Trust me, this car is fucking good.

You can use it everyday, it is cheap on gas, it is cheap to buy and it is ferociously fast. You spit on the engine and you got a 100 more hp.

I have previously owned such cars as the lamborghini gallardo, murcielago roadster and more. I enjoyed the hell out of the EVO even though I had access to faster/more expensive/beautiful cars.

The evo 6, isn't that the one that had the rear arm recall?

Not sure.  It was dark and she had a bloody nose.  Also - not many girls look hot when they're crying uncontrollably....

busted up face and crying uncontrollably? sounds pretty hot to me.

This was a warranty recall that happened just when the car came out. I have raced, rebuilt, and driven these cars cross countries without any issues. They are as reliable as a toyota and with some tweaking as fast as a supercar.

Wovito -  Audi a4,  s4 if you feel like you need to be a maniac

Great cars but they lack "feel" when driving them.
Personally when it comes to compact executives I prefer the Mercedes C class or BMW 3 series.

Burt Reynoldz - Sti's are nice. With an Accessport and downpipe you can pick up an extra 30-50 hp and a shitload more torque. Stock, the STi puts down 240-260 whp and wtq. With only an AP, downpipe and 100 octane fuel I was able to put down 325 whp and 385 wtq. Insurance, tires, and brakes are pretty expensive though.

Your figures may be a bit optimistic.

Mark

Optimism has nothing to do with it. I know those numbers sound silly but they were all done on a awd dyno. I still have the graphs. The dyno read around 260 baseline which falls in line with other dynos so it was calibrated right as well. Stock the STi makes 1 bar of boost. I was able to get almost 1.5 bar out of it. Couple that with running 100 oct fuel and you can make big power.

Kind of what I was thinking, too. No way he did that with stock injectors and no methanol.

The injectors were close to 100% duty cycle at those numbers. With 100 oct you don't really need meth to advance the timing to make these numbers. I have the dyno graphs to prove it.

Cobb doesn't offer them but there are unlocked maps on some of the STi sights from reputable tuners. I didn't use an off the shelf map though. I had customs maps made on the dyno.

Yeah. If you look at this dyno graph you can tell its a stock VF. It hits boost early and runs out of breath on the top.

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u8/warcrocop/misc/dynochart.jpg

The black line is air-fuel. 12-1 is somewhat lean but with 100 it was safe.

Yellow line is boost. topped out around 21 psi and then tapers down to 14. VF's can't hold to redline.

Why would anybody convert to meth for a 500HP engine? Is he running without a IC or what?

A stage 1 evo + 80 hp NOS can hit 500hp at the crank with stock pistons and no more than 1.4 bar.
