CHEAPER THAN ANGER MANAGEMENT
"The Ballad Of Central Coast Roller Derby".

Filmed in HD over four months in mid to late 2010 filmmaker Demi Barbito gives the viewer a candid look into the life of a womans roller derby league. Roller derby is one of the only full contact sports for women. Skaters play offense and defense at the same time and the action is as rough as pro football, rugby or even MMA.

This is not roller derby from the 70's... (Which was largely theatrical)

This is a real sport and it's tough as nails. Women from all walks of life and age groups participate and, as you'll hear in the candid interviews, roller derby "becomes a way of life" and a "sisterhood". It borders on being a sub culture and some would argue that is absolutely is. BUT it's seems to transcend the thread of consistency by including all walks of life. Individual women may have never been friends, let alone gone into battle together, without the love of roller derby.

The DVD features several teams that CCRD bouted against including:

The Bay Area Derby Girls
The Vendolls
The Battalion Of Skates
The West Cost Derby Knockouts

We follow CCRD on promotional events and weekly practices. We talk to skaters who founded the league and sit on the Board of Directors and new skaters commonly referred to as "fresh meat" until they become rookie skaters ready for their first bout.

CCRD has been around for about 6 years and many skaters have come and gone. There are a number of girls who are still with the team that have been around since day one. This DVD is a look at the team in it's current incarnation.
