Hey guys,

I'm in the process of building an HTPC, and I was just wondering if all PCI-express x16 expansion slots were PCI-express 2.0? It seems as if some motherboards are mentioned as having PCI-express 2.0 x16, whereas some are just mentioned as PCI-express x16.

Also, does any ideas if this motherboard would be good or not?

PCI-Express 2.0 slots are cross compatible. but no just because it's x16 does not mean it's 2.0

the difference between 1.x and 2.0 is bandwidth. the 2.0 has double capacity. 1 = 250 MB/sec 2 = 500 MB/sec

One other thing. I didn't 'study' the motherboard you reference, but I have two ASsRock motherboards running phenom II 6 core CPUs in two servers I have in my network. Well I should clarify. I'm a redundance obsessed guy. I have a server, and a twin for failover. the second is not used except in case of emergency. So really I only have one.

To date they have been fantastic boards. I bought them quite awhile ago and was just lucky the 6core's dropped right in. but i would have no problem recommending the boards.
