Light heavyweight Seth Petruzelli has been cut by the UFC after losing his second straight bout in the Octagon since returning to the promotion earlier this year. Petruzelli’s most recent defeat came by way of a first round TKO to Karlos Vemola at UFC 122 a little less than two weeks ago.

News of the professional separation has been confirmed by Five Ounces of Pain with an involved source.

Inevitable. But I wish him the best on the smaller shows, were he will probably be a big success.

Knew it was coming but sucks anyway.

He's definitely great to headline small shows, the Kimbo win gives him a lot of appeal to regional shows I would think.

Too bad both Seth and Godzilla wilt under the lights. I like both guys, and they do well in the small shows, but the big time.... not so much.

The guy does pretty good outside of teh UFC but in the UFC he just can't seem to cut it. Feel sorry for the guy but hope he does well outside of the UFC.

Shame... almost felt sorry for him against Karlos Vemola... that guy should be fighting heavyweight. Almost seems unfair to 205 guys.

He lost his UFC debut at HW to Jon Madsen, who is one of the smallest guys in the division and could be a 205'er himself.  Hardly unfair.

Vemola weighted in at 242 vs. Madsen, and they are the same height.  Madsen could easily be fighting at 205 just like Vemola.

That's a bummer.  I hope Seth knows he has a ton of fans that are bummed about this.  Hopefully he will fight his way back again.  Win or lose, Seth is fun to watch.

In the UFC he's a guppy swimming with sharks. On smaller shows he's a big fish in a small pond. He'll do great on smaller, regional shows.

And there's nothing wrong with that. It's more than 99% of the UG can accomplish.

i thought seth's fight with romero was one of the best of the night for sure.

what is going on with ricardo romero? i know he had a broken jaw, but that was in july.

how does vemola get licensed being cross eyed, or, how can a fighter have binoccular vision and be cross eyed? he can see and he can fight, i just think that is a tad odd.

i hope the UFC considers seth for a late replacement in the near future, keep training hard seth...
