Any time I go to the doctor I get all nervous and my bp shoots the fuck up.  But I take it at home on a very expensive bp machine I have and it's all good.  Anyone have any good ways to get over this shit??

take off all your clothes while waiting in the room. trust me, it will make the doctor much more uncomfortable and nervous than you.

Robin Ashe - Lorazepam

Ativan huh??  Yeah I guess meds would do it.  It may be a problem if I ever get drug tested at the same physical though....

It would allow the doctor to create a baseline record of when you're not under any anxiety. I'd recommend just ask the doc to prescribe it once and schedule a full physical.

My problem is that I will (hopefully one day) have to take a physical for a city job. Fire dept specifically. I'm honestly in tip top shape. I've even had a cardiologist look over my heart thoroughly and he said "ive got the heart of an athlete". And I really don't even get nervous about anything else. I wouldn't wanna run into burning buildings otherwise lol. I just fucking HATE doctors for whatever reason.... Phone Post

I used to have issues with the compression on my arm. I got all claustrophobic. It elevated my BP only slightly tho.

I started just focusing on something other than the pressure on my arm, kind of meditating. That seemed to help me.

Its not uncommon. You could try relaxation techniques. Breathing, self talk, visualization. Or take a benzo, w/e.

I have the same thing....I take it at home daily and it's around 110/70.  I go to the doctor and it's 130-150/85-95.  I keep a spreadsheet at home and record my daily measurements - then I just print a copy of the last few months and bring it with me.  My doctor is ok with it and adds the printout to my file.

guys used to run into burning buildings coked outta their skulls, half drunk..fer fuck's sake.  garbage men have riskier/more physical existences than firefighters....FACT, SON

The weird thing about this, is that if i told you I were in "tip top shape" BECAUSE I have an 8 pack and 17 inch bi's, then you would call me an even bigger faggot. FACT. Phone Post

I also never mentioned how physical/risky of a job it is. You brought that up, son. I was just worried about passing a medical at the time I made this. Simple as that. Phone Post

raoulDuke -  PLEASE START CLIMBING i promise it isnt possible to have more fun while working so hard...PROMISE OMISE

The main reason that I didn't want to try it this whole time is cause my back has been pretty jacked lately.  Hence the whole yoga thing you saw me post about.  And I knew if I came out to try it, I wouldn't take it easy and try to keep up and shit as so I wouldn't be called a bitch.

However, I think it's getting better now.  So I may be willing to give it a go at some point soon.

Do you bring you machine with you to check it at the Dr. office to see if you get the same result? Also does you BP machine record your readings.

I had this problem also, I started bringing my machine and showing the Dr. my results. Over time that actually eased my nervousness and now I don't have the issue.
